Inclusion and Diversity Surveys went home in manila envelopes yesterday. We are really hoping for a large number of surveys to be returned no later than Thursday, March 8th! Please fill this out and turn in as soon as possible! :)
A week at a glance:
Reading Core:
*This week, we continued our unit around Roald Dahl using the book Twits! Students found similes, alliteration, and adjectives to describe the setting, while also using characters actions/traits to understand the text. We even researched certain species in the text! We will continue this next week.
HW: Read for AR!
Science:
We began our human body unit. Students focused on cells being the building blocks of life and have begun focusing on how the skeletal and muscular systems work together. Our driving question for this unit is "how do our healthy habits and environmental factors affect how the human body systems work together?"
We are looking for volunteers to assist with a Sheep Heart dissection on March 9th from 9:30-11:00am. Please let me know if you are interested! :)
5th Grade Math:
*We continued our 4th module of multiplication and division of fractions and decimal fractions. Students learned how fractions are division through multiple forms (unit form, standard form, standard algorithm, tape diagram, etc). Students learned how to divide a fraction of a whole and a whole of a fraction while demonstrating this on a tape diagram/visual. Students applied this with word problems. The links for this unit on youtube is attached. We ended on lesson 26.
HW: IXL/Mathfacts AND workbook pages 2 of their choice
6th Grade Math
We are moving into our 5th grade review unit to ensure we are all solid on our 5th grade math standards. Especially in Fractions and Geometry. Any homework will be classwork that is not finished in class.
Writing:
*We continued our descriptive essays around the nervous and digestive system. Students took notes, planned, and drafted these essays. Next week, we will take all six human body system essays and write an overall descriptive essay!
Extra:
Have a great weekend!
